The results of a new study presented at the European Society of Endocrinology annual meeting revealed that an increase in the level of fat in the waist area may be caused by in the body.

Where vitamin D plays an important role in many things in the body, it reduces the risk of heart failure and cancer, and the lack of its levels can cause hair loss.

Low levels of vitamin D have been linked to many health problems, the most important of which are:

  • Weak bones in the body
  • Increased risk of respiratory tract infections
  • Autoimmune diseases.

In this study, the researchers found a relationship between obesity and a low level of vitamin D in the body, and this was done through samples taken from a group of men and women, their ages ranged between 45-65 years, taking into account some factors such as smoking and exercise.

After analyzing the information and samples, the researchers noticed that the level of total fat in the body increased if they were deficient in vitamin D, and that the effect of this was greater on the waist area in particular.

In men, lower levels of vitamin D were associated with higher levels of fat in the liver and abdomen.

The researchers stressed that it is important for people who suffer from the accumulation of fat in the abdominal and waist area to have their vitamin D levels checked.
