A recent study published in the scientific journal (Circulation) found that affected men may notice signs and symptoms of heart disease as well.
It is considered one of the main causes of death among men and women with different causes and risk factors between the sexes.
The study authors noted that men’s risk factors for heart disease include:
- Metabolic disorders
They also added erectile dysfunction to their risk factors recently, after targeting more than 1,900 men for a period of about 4 years.
After conducting several tests and examinations on the participants, the researchers concluded that erectile dysfunction would increase men’s risk of heart attack and heart disease, and doubled.
The researchers reported that most men with erectile dysfunction do not go to the doctor because of embarrassment, which doubles their risk of heart disease even more.
They stressed that these results indicate the need for men with erectile dysfunction to consult a doctor, and undergo various tests to ensure their heart health.
On the other hand, the researchers added that it is important for doctors to subject men with erectile dysfunction to various heart tests to ensure their health, as ignoring this may raise the risk of death due to heart disease.
