The Egyptian Ministry of Health launched a large national campaign with the aim of eliminating it, which is expected to start in all governorates.
It is hoped that through this campaign, Egypt will be declared free of Hepatitis C by the year 2020.
The official spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Megahed, stated that the campaign is currently targeting 17 governorates and their population between 19 and 59, which is the most vulnerable group to the disease.
The medical survey will be carried out by undergoing several tests in order to detect antibodies to hepatitis C, and to provide the necessary medical care for patients.
Dr. Mujahid stressed that the campaign aims to treat 15 million citizens annually, over the campaign period, which will continue for a period of three years.
After the completion of the first phase, which targets 17 governorates, work will be carried out on other governorates.
